CHUCK WINS ROSE GARDEN SONGWRITER COMPETITION!

I can hardly believe this actually happened, but the evidence indicates it did. On May 17, I performed as a finalist at the Rose Garden Coffehouse songwriter competition. Leaving aside for the moment the odd feeling I get when trying to connect the ideas of "songwriting" and "competition", this was a night of nervous energy and great comraderie. I was fortumate enough to emerge as the winner at this event. It was one of the most satisfying and enjoyable moments of my musical life.

I played two songs of recent vintage: "Winter" and "I Am Not Ashamed Of You". I've created a page for each song, not because they actually need separate pages but because the good folks at the Rose Garden recorded them and posted them on YouTube. Rather than trying to squeeze them both on a single page, they each have their own. Complete with lyrics.

MERCHANDISE
Braving new avenues of theoretical commerce, there are now a couple of mugs and a hat for sale. Please keep in mind that these fun but ridiculously overpriced items are not overpriced by me. I get a ridiculously small cut of these ridiculously overpriced items. Which is really my way of begging you to buy as many as you can. I especially invite you to consider the simple but very elegant SIMPLE HEART MUG for Valentines Day. Any other day, too. I say if you're going to support Hallmark you should support HALLFOLK, too. There's also a " Northern Sagas" MUG...and a HALLFOLK CAP with the new and soon-to-be-deployed Hallfolk logo.

PODCASTS
Check out the NEW podcast site: THE HALLFOLK PODCAST BROADCAST.I have a couple of new podcasts and a new podcast site in the works. Check out the CHARLIE ROBERTSON interview. Charlie is not only one of my favorite people, he is just about my favorite songwriter...and a wonderful person to interview. It's a lengthy two parter, but worth the effort. They don't come any better than Charlie Rrrrrr.......
I also recently found a tape of someone interviewing me back in 1993. It was on a radio station I was working for at the time, the fondly-remembered Walden 1120, WADN-AM in Concord, Massachusetts. Dick Pleasants was the interviewer. I'd forgotten some of those songs. It was really good fun. Not posted just yet, but within a couple of weeks.

That's it for now, gang. Come out and say hello. Until then, many blessings on you!
